Shakeology Review by a Real Customer

Okay, so this is me. Do I look like Jillian Michaels? No, hardly. Do I look like a Beachbody Coach or a gym rat? No, again.

I wanted you to see that I am simply one of many Shakeology customers.

And thanks, in part to Shakeology and going back to jogging a couple miles a couple times a week, I am pulling clothes that didn't fit last year out of the back of the closet and wearing them again.

So a friend of mine was turning into a gym rat and he kept talking about this Shakeology stuff, that it was delicious, nutritious and how he was losing weight without really trying just from having a Shakeology shake for his lunch every day.

I have to admit, I agreed to try a one-month supply partly to shut him up. And I have to admit that when the bag came, I thought, that was $120? Seriously?

Here's a picture of the bag:
Hmm... maybe I should have put something next to it. I mean it does contain 30 servings, but it still felt overpriced.

Now my friend (who is a Beachbody coach) had been telling me to compare spending $4 a day on that versus a typical $5 that I might spend at the cafeteria at work or a fastfood restaurant. That's what all the Beachbody coaches will tell you and I guess it's a valid point.

So how does Shakeology taste?

Fantastic! They send out a whole set of recipes, and I tried a couple, but 95% of the time I put one scoop of the chocolate mix (I don't know anyone who likes green better) and a cup of lowfat milk into my mini-blender. I turn it on for a minute and it's really like a chocolate milkshake. In fact, one night when I was craving a dessert, considering having ice cream or searching the cabinets for something yummy, instead I made one of these shakes and felt good about it! Cravings all gone. No will power required.

Shakeology Ingredients - The Magic Formula?

The Shakeology bag says: "Patent-pending formula supports healthy blood sugar levels" I could scan the ingredients listed on the back of the package, but if you are like me, you may not have heard of a lot of them. The Shakeology website highlights in particular the following ingredients:
  • Whey protein isolate- an easily absorbable source of high-quality protein that's ideal for building and maintaining lean muscle mass. It also helps keep your blood sugar steady, reducing hunger and junk food cravings. Essential amino acids, found in protein, help the body repair muscle tissue and heal wounds; support the brain to promote calmness and alertness; and reduce hunger pangs. The whey protein in Shakeology provides a highly bioavailable source of essential amino acids.
  • Fruit and vegetable sources - chosen for their high concentration of healthy natural substances known as phytonutrients, including flavonoids, polyphenols, anthocyanins, and catechins. These substances have antioxidant properties, meaning they help get rid of molecules known as free radicals, which damage cells and may be a key component of the aging process.
  • Prebiotics - natural components of certain plants, help support the "friendly" bacteria in your digestive tract. They may also help with the absorption of minerals such as calcium.
  • Digestive enzymes from plant sources such as pineapples and papayas, help your body break down food into its individual components, making the nutrients easier to absorb

But the bottom line in any product, especially one for losing weight, getting in shape, increasing energy, or all of the above, is does it work for you? I found the Shakeology shake very convenient and definitely a great meal replacement. I don't have it quite every day. Sometimes we have leftovers that I'm trying to use up. But occasionally I'll have two Shakeology shakes in one day -- like when I'm craving chocolate late at night. Initially I was obstinate and only bought one bag. No way was I signing up for "auto-delivery" no matter how many times my friend told me that it was easy to cancel. But, after one purchase, I was convinced. I really like Shakeology. So that's my Shakeology Review.

Oh, before I forget.

Where Can You Buy Shakeology?

Right here, that's where
P.S. Other info you might want to know, related to this Shakeology Review is my friend recommended and I second it, getting the smallest, cheapest version of the Magic Bullet for preparing your shakes. The parts in this can be popped into the dishwasher and that make shake preparation and cleanup a 1 minute (no exaggeration) job. Talk about fast food!
